Walking in the Morning Light

October 5, 2015

This morning I got crazy about the frost, morning light and usnea in the trees.

Last days for enjoying Autumn colours. But with frost it is extra special.

Almost all the leaves are fallen from the trees.

The last ones were easy to spot with the help of the morning light.

I thought about collecting a frozen flower bucket. I wonder if anyone have received such a bucket.

Where the air is pure there the usnea grows. It is called naava in Finnish.

Sun is melting the frost but winter is getting closer and closer. This last pic is reminding me of christmas lights. Darkest months are ahead but with the beautiful blue moments!

Time of the Northen Lights

September 12, 2015

It is the time of the year again that Northern Lights are showing if you are able to stay awake. It has been clear sky on several nights.

Olavi woke up on one night and Kimmo noticed the Northen Lights from the window. He went out with the camera around 1.30 am.

Mountain Biking on Fell Kukas

September 12, 2015

Kimmo was mountian biking in Ylläs few months ago. Nora got inspired about the trip and wanted to try mountain biking for the first time. You can get inspired about our pro clothing too.

This is the first stop after bike rental place in Ylläs. Kimmo chose a fat bike and me and Nora regular mountain bikes. I had second thoughts about not having rented fat bike too. But oh well, next time! It was Sunday and rental place opened at 10.00 am and closed 3.00 pm. We thought they there is plenty of time for us to be back on time.

Changing scenery.

Top of the Fell Kukas is near! By the way, on our way up we were surpassed several times by hikers. Some even more than once as we had our breaks in different rhythms.

Steeper than it looks. Kimmo made it with out walking.

Lake Ylläsjärvi showing in the distance.

On the top!

And finally we are heading down and looking for the good place to have our packed lunch.

What a great view and such a perfect weather!

Lunch and blueberries.

First wooden part for us. Shelter ahead.

Nora went first! It needed a lot of concentration to cross but only once the tire got stuck between. Yes, my tire.

We were planning around 10 km round but it turned out about 20 km in the end. At this point we were also bit worried that do we make it back on time. But we did, about 20 min before closing time of the bike rental place.

After the stop at the shelter we got good tip about really nice ride down back to the starting point. It was great! I tried Kimmo's fat bike little bit in the end and were more than convinced.

Nice trip even though I was really tired in the end. Luckily when we got back home there were grilling party going on with neighbours. Perfect timing!
