Peeling the willow was fun and our son got the chance to try it out too. We needed about a bucket full of willow bark.
Making of Nutukkaat, Part 1
We decided to take a part on Nutukas work shop with my sister in law. Nutukas is reindeer fur boot. Making and sewing your own shoes sounds so exiting! But we needed to do some preparations beforehand so I asked a little bit help from Mummi. I needed assistance when I was told to go and get some branches of willow tree and peel and cook them. We needed tannin from the bark to make the leather softer and sewable. Ready for the next step!
Northern Lights in October
I have to admit that these are the first Northern light I've seen this clearly. When we lived in Helsinki we visited here mostly during the summer time so I was quite exited to see this. Wow!
