Reidar's Path

During winter there goes a skiing tracks to Särestöniemi and we got an idea to walk there. And we needed guides for us. We got the best ones for sure! Onni and Regina were close friends with artist Reidar Särestöniemi and they told us stories about him and his walks from Särestöniemi to Kaukonen. In Kaukonen there was a small everyday store run by Onni And Regina. So they met weekly with Reidar.

Reidar walked to Kaukonen and bought every time new thermal under wear from Onni's and Regina's store so he wouldn't get cold while walking back home. At one point Regina thought that she could do laundry for Reidar that he don't need to by new ones every time. What a service! Though Regina thought that she wasn't that good sales woman because of that.

Frosty Laundry

Warm summer wind dries laundry quickly. During the winter, frost will do the same adding freshness to the laundry. Although afterwards you will need to hang them inside for a while, it is worth it. Usually only towels and bed linen are taken outside to dry during winter.

Out on Fell Aakenus

Enjoying the first frosty days at fell Aakenustunturi. I didn’t expect to find any cranberries because snow had slightly covered the ground the night before. Despite of snow covered tuffets, I came home with one liter of frozen cranberries. Oh, my precious berries!
