Winter Food for Cows

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It's hay day! Here is the fodder stored for the winter. Or we were storing the rest of it today. Part of it is made smaller hay bales.  Local reindeer herder helped us and his reindeers were running around us. I have to remember to take pics during winter when Äiji picks up the fodder from this stash.

When I was young and lived back home we had cows too. Or my grandparents had. We lived at the same house with my mothers parents. Hay bales were smaller squares and we used also drying monopods. Yes, I was born in 70's.

Trip to Kierinki

Many small villages in Lapland (or Finland in general)  have their own summer events. Yesterday we visited Kierinki with Kimmo. In the morning it was little bit chilly but eventually the day became sunny and nice. We ate salmon, crepes with blueberry jam and checked out the  timber man contest where timber entrepreneurs challenged local talents. On the way back home we stopped by the lake Kinisjärvi.

Harness Racing Event in Kaukonen

Once a year Kaukonen hosts a Harness racing event. It was my first time attending and of course I had to gamble. I bet 5 euros for two different horses in two different races. I picked horses by their name. That’s probably quite common when you don’t have clue what to do.
